Claude Bereznikov (for Monday).

This is painter Claude Bereznikov of Annapolis, Maryland. His artist statement reads: "I want people to suddenly feel hit by a wave of color, and feel like explorers discovering a world they wouldn't mind spending the weekend in."

For my theme, I'm focusing on place. These pieces are curious to me because they are both dramatic and sort of child-like. I love the color though the pieces are perhaps too explicitly drawing on Chagall. I like, however, the attention to both city scape and portraiture. They're joyful. I love the way he paints faces and I like the influence of street art/graffiti too.
